‘We Are Loughborough Junction’ a new portrait project
Mar 9th 2009 | 0 COMMENTS
I am starting a new portrait project this weekend on Sunday 15th March 2009. It will be the start of a 3 day portrait series of people from Loughborough Junction. Our end goal is to have an exhibition of portraits of the community on public display on mid summers day this year.
It all started from an idea that my neighbour Paul Adlam had around the time we were in forming a residents group around where we live on Southwell Road in LJ. Paul had seen a public display of portraits in France last year. He was enthused about how inspirational it was. After the success of my Fun Factory photograph last December I suggested that we go ahead with the project. I will be taking the photographs while Paul, his partner Matty and other members of the newly formed Loughborough Junction Action Group will be helping out with the organisation of the project as well as the exhibition we are planning.
We are hoping to raise some funding to make prints to show the portraits on walls, bridges, in gardens, windows and on any interesting locations we can find in the area. I have mocked up some photographs to demonstrate how it might look on one corner of a street. The aim is to have photographs all over the Junction:

This Sunday is the start of the project and I hope to have many neighbours and people from the area or associates and patrons of Loughborough Junction taking part. The Address is 40 Southwell Road, SE5 9PG, beside The Clockwork Studios. We will be there to meet people and take photographs between 11am and 4pm.
I have no idea how timings will work at this point so if it gets busy please be patient and if it is completely empty please don't laugh out loud
